Frequently asked questions
Short answers about Wing Suite's modules, performance, dark mode and the AJAX search.
General#
Which modules does Wing Suite include?#
Two today: Dark Mode and AJAX Search. More are planned and will arrive through normal plugin updates.
Can I switch off a module I do not need?#
Yes, under Wing Suite → WS Modules. See Installation and modules.
Will the modules slow my site down?#
Only modules that are switched on load anything, and each loads only its own small files. A module that is off adds nothing to your pages.
Is Wing Suite free?#
Yes. It is available in the WordPress plugin directory.
Dark Mode#
I enabled Dark Mode but see no switch on my site.#
Open Wing Suite → Dark Mode and click Save once. The switch is added after the settings have been saved for the first time. Then check that Enable Frontend Dark Mode and, under Switch Display, at least one switch are on. See Enable Dark Mode.
Can visitors choose for themselves?#
Yes. The switch changes the mode for that visitor, and their choice is remembered in their browser for later visits.
Can dark mode follow the visitor's device?#
Yes. Set Select Default Mode to System Mode: visitors whose device uses a dark theme get the dark version automatically.
Can I use my own colours?#
Yes. Under Color Settings choose Custom and set the background, text, link, input, button and scrollbar colours, or start from one of the presets. See Dark mode colours and images.
Where can I put the switch?#
As a floating button in a bottom corner, in a navigation menu, or anywhere with the [wingsuite_dark_mode] shortcode. See The dark mode switch.
Some part of my site does not look right in dark mode.#
Themes and page builders set colours in many ways, and an element with its own fixed background may keep it. Try another preset first. If one element still stands out, set its colours for dark mode in your theme's Additional CSS, or tell us which theme you use.
AJAX Search#
Does the search work with custom post types and WooCommerce products?#
Yes. Under Search Config → Select Post Types to Search, pick any post type of your site, products included. See Search settings.
How do I add the search to my header?#
Create a search form and attach it to your header menu or its menu location. See Add a search bar.
Can I have different searches in different places?#
Yes. Each search form has its own settings and its own shortcode.
The results take a moment to appear.#
That is the Live Search Delay: the form waits until the visitor pauses typing. Lower it under Search Form for a quicker response. See Search settings.
