Cart abandonment emails Pro
Send one reminder email to WooCommerce customers who left items in their cart and agreed to be contacted.
A cart abandonment email reminds a customer of the items they left in their WooCommerce cart. Wing Popup Pro sends one reminder per cart, and only to people who may be emailed.
Who gets a reminder#
A cart on its own is not permission to email anyone. A reminder is sent only when the person both has a known email address and has agreed to be contacted:
- a signed-in customer with items in the cart, or
- a visitor who entered their address in one of your forms and ticked its consent box.
Anonymous visitors who never gave an address are not emailed, and nobody receives a sequence of emails. Treating every cart as an invitation to email is how a sending domain ends up blocked.
Switch it on#
- Go to Wing Popup → Settings → Analytics.
- Scroll to Cart Abandonment Emails.
- Switch on Send Abandonment Reminders.
- Set the fields and click Save.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Send Abandonment Reminders | Switches the feature on. |
| Wait Before Sending | Minutes after the cart was last changed. 240 (four hours) by default: long enough that the customer has really gone, not just stepped away. |
| Email Subject | You left something behind by default. |
The email is short plain text: it says how many items are waiting and links back to the cart. If the customer completes the order before the wait is over, no reminder is sent.
Getting more carts you may email#
The reminder can only reach people who gave you an address. A popup earns that address:
- Create a subscribe form with the Consent Checkbox ticked in Form Fields.
- Show it in a Form popup with the Cart Abandonment trigger: Leaving? We can save your cart and email it to you.
- Visitors who sign up and then leave are sent the reminder.
The Popup Library has a preset for this, Save your cart, fullscreen split.
Deliverability#
Reminders are sent by WordPress through your server, like every other email of your site. For them to arrive, your site needs working email. If order emails from your shop reach customers, reminders will too. If not, set up an SMTP plugin first. See Troubleshooting.
