WooCommerce triggers Pro

Open a popup when a product is added to the cart, when a visitor with a full cart is about to leave, or when they leave the checkout.

With WooCommerce active, a popup's Trigger Events tab gains a WooCommerce group with three store triggers. They react to what the visitor does with the cart.

Add to cart#

Opens the popup when a product is added to the cart. It works with normal add-to-cart buttons, AJAX buttons on shop pages and the block-based cart.

Field What it does
Enable Display Popup on Add to Cart Switches the trigger on.
Delay After Adding Seconds to wait, so WooCommerce can finish updating the cart totals first. 1 by default.

Use it for cross-sells (Customers also bought) with the Upsell / Cross-sell Products popup type, or for a free-shipping reminder.

Cart abandonment#

Opens the popup when a visitor who has something in the cart looks like they are leaving the site.

Field What it does
Enable Display Popup on Cart Abandonment Switches the trigger on.
Minimum Cart Total Fire only when the cart is worth at least this much. 0 fires for any cart that is not empty.
Exit Intent Sensitivity How close to the top edge the pointer must get, in pixels. 20 by default.

This is exit intent limited to visitors with a cart. A coupon popup works well here: Finish your order today and take 10% off.

Checkout exit#

Works like cart abandonment, but only on the checkout page, where a last-moment offer is worth the most. It has one switch, Enable Display Popup on Checkout Exit.

How the cart is read#

The cart differs for every visitor, while your pages may be cached and identical for all. The store triggers therefore read the cart in the visitor's browser, after the page has loaded, and keep working behind a page cache.

Combine with store targeting#

Triggers decide when; the Store panel under Display Options decides for whom: an empty or filled cart, a cart total between two amounts, certain products or categories in the cart, product, cart or checkout pages only, and whether the customer has ordered before. See Audience targeting.

Example: free shipping nudge. Trigger: Add to Cart. Store rule: Cart Total Is At Least 30, And At Most 49. Content: You are close to free shipping over 50.

Easy Digital Downloads#

The three triggers on this page need WooCommerce. On a site that runs Easy Digital Downloads instead, the Store targeting rules and the product popups work with the EDD cart; open those popups with a general trigger such as exit intent.
